Social Media Manager
This is a full-time position based in Cape Town, South Africa. You will work closely with our marketing, content, and sales teams to manage and grow our social media presence across multiple platforms.
Position Overview:
We’re looking for a creative, data-driven Social Media Manager with a proven track record in building brands, running paid campaigns, and creating effective social media strategies. You’ll be in charge of developing and managing our social media presence, engaging our audience, collaborating with partners and influencers, and ensuring our online presence reflects the unique, high-quality experiences we offer in Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute social media strategies to increase brand awareness, engagement, and lead generation.
- Content Planning & Creation: Plan, create, and schedule high-quality, on-brand content (visual and written) for Instagram and Facebook, and potentially other relevant platforms.
- Account Management: Own and manage our social media channels, maintain a consistent voice, and actively engage with followers.
- Campaigns & Advertising: Create and manage paid ad campaigns, including budget management, targeting, A/B testing, and performance optimisation.
- Analytics & Reporting: Track performance, prepare regular reports, and use data insights to refine strategies and content.
- Community Management: Monitor comments, messages, and mentions across platforms, and maintain a friendly, helpful brand voice in interactions.
- Collaborations: Identify and manage partnerships with influencers, content creators, tourism boards, and brand-aligned collaborators.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with content, design, and sales teams to ensure alignment with marketing goals and campaigns.
Your Profile:
- Experience: 3+ years of professional experience managing social media accounts and paid campaigns for a brand — preferably in travel, tourism, or lifestyle.
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrable success in building and growing engaged social media communities and delivering measurable results.
- Platform Knowledge: Deep understanding of platform-specific trends, tools, and best practices (especially Instagram and Facebook).
- Content Creation: Strong visual eye and ability to brief or create social-first visuals and videos using tools like Canva or Adobe Suite.
- Ads & Analytics: Skilled in running paid ads on Meta platforms and interpreting results using tools like Meta Business Manager and Google Analytics.
- Organisation & Initiative: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive with excellent time management and planning skills.
- Language: Fluent in English; German language is a plus.
- Destination Knowledge: Familiarity with travel in Tanzania, Kenya, Namibia, Botswana, or South Africa is an advantage.
